This blog was created to post the content I (Derek Strom) will be creating for COMJOUR 333 during the spring semester of 2020 at WSU. I aspire to make a career out of creating content in the media through the formats of television and the internet. I am a broadcast news major at WSU and becoming a broadcaster has been a goal of mine since middle school. I also am a member of the drum line at WSU and I enjoy playing other instruments such as piano and guitar. I am from Renton, Washington and I lived there my whole life before attending WSU. I went to Hazen High School where I played golf and spent four years as a member of the Hazen drum line and the marching band. Doing drum line in high school was the reason why I continued to continue playing snare drum in college. I chose to go to Washington State because my dad is an alumnus and I grew up loving the Cougs. My dad and I spent many nights watching Cougar football and basketball on TV and in person, so I’m glad I get to experience those games now that I’m a student at Wazzu.
